Biography

I currently spend almost half of my working life as senior teacher (ELT) at the British Council's Young Learner Centre in  Barcelona, Spain. The other half of my time is spent working on global projects for the British Council, such as Learn English Second Life for Teens. We are involved in the EU funded AVALON project looking at scenario-based language teaching in virtual worlds. I also teach some CLIL and ESP classes (including a short course on Virtual Tourism in Second Life) for undergraduates of Tourism at Turismo Sant Ignasi, Universidad de Ramon Llull, Barcelona.

Presentation abstract or description

Online digital games and  other 'digital toys' are a great way of motivating pre-teen and teenage language learners but how can they best be exploited pedagogically? I'll be giving some ideas - come and share yours too.
